Kevin has been working in the Hy-Vee Conference Center for over thirteen years. After graduating from Iowa State University with a BA in Telecommunicative Arts, in the study of radio, television and film, he began his career with the local ABC affiliated television station. Kevin joined the Hy-Vee family in 1995 as Coordinator of AV Services and after five years moved up to Assistant Director of the Conference Center. After another four years as Assistant Director he was promoted to Director.

Corporate Executive Chef
Kim Burow

 

Chef Kim has been with the Hy-Vee Conference Center for five years as the Corporate Executive Chef. Chef graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He returned to Iowa to take a position as Executive Chef of the Des Moines Golf and Country Club and was named the youngest Certified Chef in Iowa at that time, at age 23. Following ten years at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club he moved to Palm Springs, California to work at Indian Wells Country Club, the home of the Bob Hope Classic golf tournament, as Executive Chef and Director of Food Service. After another ten years Chef returned to Des Moines to continue his career as Executive Chef of the Hyperion Field Club and worked there for ten years before coming to Hy-Vee. Chef Kim is a long-standing certified member of the American Chef Federation. He has numerous awards to his credit, from the National Pork producers and Taste of Iowa to the Presidents Culinary Award.

Sales and Guest Services
Emily Fish [efish@hy-vee.com]

 

Emily has been with the Hy-Vee Conference Center for five years, maintaining the role of Manager of Sales and Guest Services, and was named a Hy-Vee Corporate Employee of the Quarter in 2007. Emily graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from DMACC and is currently working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management with a minor in Marketing from Upper Iowa University. Emily has over 10 years of experience in event planning. She began her career at the Hotel at Gateway Center and since moved on to work at the  University Park Holiday Inn before coming to work at the Hy-Vee Conference Center.

Marketing &
Bridal Show Coordinator
Sara Heim [sheim@hy-vee.com]

 

Sara began working for the Hy-Vee Conference Center as an intern in early January, 2007 and was hired full-time after a few short months to assist in the sales department and coordinate the bi-annual "Everything Bridal Show". Sara graduated in May, 2007 from Simpson College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Corporate Communication and a minor in Marketing. During her four years at Simpson she had three internship experiences, along with participating in several campus organizations. Sara interned as a Marketing assistant at Riccolo & Semelroth law firm in Cedar Rapids, IA. She also interned in the public relations department at Integer Group Midwest in Des Moines, and finally as a sales assistant at the Hy-Vee Conference Center.

Banquet Services Manager
Mandy Garcia [mgarcia@hy-vee.com]

 

Mandy has been with the Hy-Vee Conference Center for just a year and serves as Manager of Banquet Services. Mandy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and a Masters degree in Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Administration with an emphasis in Events Planning from Western Illinois University. Mandy has been with Hy-Vee for thirteen years, both in the store and at the corporate office. She started her Hy-Vee career at the Silvis location and transferred to the Macomb store while attending college. She began her tenure in the Des Moines market serving as an intern at the Conference Center to complete her degree. She worked at the Windsor Heights store serving as Manager of General Merchandise and later as Manager of Perishables. She is also a 2001 graduate of Hy-Vee University.

Audio/Visual Coordinator,
Room Setup and Operations
Rob Luetje

 

Rob has been with the Hy-Vee Conference Center for three years, working with the audio/visual capabilities and room setup, and was named a Hy-Vee Corporate Employee of the Quarter in 2006.  Rob earned his BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Iowa.  This is Rob’s second time with Hy-Vee, as he also worked part-time in the Carroll, Iowa Hy-Vee store for six years. Rob’s prior experience in audio and video includes three years at Pratt Audio-Visual in Des Moines and two years at WOI-TV in West Des Moines. When he’s not working in the Conference Center Rob is freelancing in videography and video editing for Custom Productions in Des Moines.
